Booker Drop Box
We have a talented patron, who transformed the Children's Department drop box into a beautiful dog house with Booker the dog. Come in and see what a great job she did.

Get A Clue with the Summer Reading Programs
We are getting ready to start the Summer Reading Program. This year we will have a program for all ages. There is a Family Reading Group, a Young Adult/Tween Reading Group and the Children's Reading Group.
The programs will be from June 11th - July 27th.
Thanks to Lanie, one of our talented staff, we have character stand ups for the children to get their picture taken with. They are great.
Some of our staff have
already tried them.

Notes on the Margin
There are a few very well crafted books recently added to the library collection.
COBRA II by Gordon, Michael is available in both print and audiobook formats. It is the inside story of the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Very solid material and discussion of the battle plan and what went wrong.
STATE OF WAR by Risen, James is a dramatic account of the political events behind the Iraq invasion and occupation. It also is available in print and audiobook formats. Just the subtitle alone ought to entice you to head down to the library -- "SECRET HISTORY OF THE CIA" Wow, 'nuff said.
Then there are 2 I probably won't get many takers on -- but, are these well crafted and fun!

You could actually learn to write by studying these two titles. Written by pros . . .
GAUDEAMUS by Barnes, John is only in text. It is science fiction written like the campy late 1950s Black and White films. Barnes is a Professor of Theater Arts in Colorado and uses himself in the first person throughout the text. Characters are very well drawn. As I read I could see it both film, stage play and even musical in the "Little Shop of Horrors" vein.
The final entry is also science fiction OLD MAN'S WAR by Scalzi, John is a further extetion of the 50's style swashbuckling adventure.Again, it is an object lesson in writing a well crafted work.
